Do You Offer Online Therapy?
Yes! Digital health technology is revolutionising the way therapy can be delivered (Especially helpful in the pandemic era we are in).
I offer a range of interventions that can be accessed from the comfort of your own home or from the workplace.
Without the added stress of travel time and moving things around in your diary.
How Does Online Therapy Work?
I use zoom as a platform for the sessions. You simply schedule an appointment at an available slot and that slot is now yours! Then simply follow the link at the time of the appointment. The platform that we use is confidential and a secure service.
Why Would I Choose To Pay Private Pay Instead Of Using My Insurance Benefits?
Many of my clients actually prefer to work with me privately and not involve their insurance at all.
This is because in order to use your insurance for therapy, a mental health diagnosis is required, and this gets attached to your record. Insurance can also put limitations on the number of therapy sessions you can have, prior to truly completing the process.
And by not taking insurance, I’m able to maintain a smaller caseload of clientele and devote all of my focus into helping people. Instead of taking hours each week going back and forth with insurance, I devote that time and energy to my clients, resulting in better outcomes for therapy.
How Can I Get Started With Online CBT Therapy?
Simply go to the Contact page and fill out the form or give a call.
How Much Do You Charge?
The fee is £80 for a 50 minutes session.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The answer is that it is case by case as psychotherapy is not a 'one size fits all'. Your specific amount of sessions will depend on understanding your specific difficulties and your progress throughout the treatment.
- CBT typically lasts between 5-20 sessions.
- However in cases where the problem has been around for a while or you have multiple problems, therapy can last longer than 20 sessions. This will all be discussed after the initial assessment is carried out.
How Often Do I Need To Attend?
- We will meet weekly at the start of treatment. Once you start to feel better we will discuss extending the time between sessions.
- When you feel ready to end therapy, we can plan some follow-up appointments to help you maintain the progress you have made, usually at 3 and 6 month intervals.
- After that if you feel you would like further support, then we can look into the 'Progress maintenance Program'.
How Soon Will I Expect To Feel Better?
- CBT is not a “quick-fix” therapy; therapy is a process, and it can take a few sessions for you to start to benefit from the therapeutic techniques that your therapist will teach you.
- The assessment stage itself can take up to 3 sessions for your therapist to gain a good understanding of your difficulties and what maintains them.
- Based on your difficulties, and a shared understanding of what maintains your difficulties (E.g., unhelpful behaviours like avoidance or setting unrealistic standards for yourself), skills and techniques will be introduced in therapy that will require practice on your part, between sessions to see a change in your situation.
- The practice that you put in between sessions is as important, if not more, than the actual therapy sessions as the change will come from this rather than attending a session alone.
Who Can Refer For Therapy?
- I accept referrals from multiple sources e.g. Self-referral, GPs, Employers, Insurance Companies, Solicitors.
Is Everything We Discuss Private?
- Yes, all information disclosed to me is confidential.
- Your confidentiality will be maintained at all times however, as part of my own professional development, I will need to discuss my clients in supervision. This is done without disclosing names and the supervisor is bound by the same ethical guidelines regarding confidentiality as I am.
- I will not disclose your details to a 3rd party without your prior consent, except under the following circumstances: If, in my opinion you are at imminent risk of hurting yourself or you present a risk to others. Under these circumstances, I reserve the right to inform appropriate external agencies, normally your GP or the police. I will always attempt to discuss this with you beforehand.
- Please familiarise yourself with my Privacy Policy for more information on whom I share your data with.
Will I Need Medication? Do you prescribe medication?
- If we decide in therapy that medication might be useful alongside therapy, this will be discussed together within session.
- I do not prescribe medication. I would instead recommend that you visit your GP, or a psychiatrist. This will always be discussed within therapy.
Is Online Therapy As Effective As In-person Therapy?
Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as traditional face-to-face in-person therapy.
What If I Find Technology Difficult To Set Up?
- The process is as simple as a click. You will be guided through the whole process in the 1st session and you will be supported with any difficulties.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
- Late cancellations and missed appointments sessions are payable (50% 0f the total fee) if notice has not been given within 48 hours before your appointment, except in cases of exceptional circumstances.
Will I Have Tasks Between Sessions?
- Yes! As Home practise between sessions is an important part of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments too. It's developed collaboratively during therapy sessions itself, and are used to in various ways e.g. rehearse new skills, practice coping strategies, and restructure unhelpful beliefs.
What Can I Expect In A First Session?
The first session will be spent making sure CBT is the right therapy for you, and that you're comfortable with the process. We will talk about your life and background. E.g. If you're anxious I will ask whether it interferes with other areas of your life e.g. family, work and social life.
- I'll also ask about things in your past that may be related to your current struggle, any previous treatments you've had, and what you would like to achieve through therapy itself.
- If we agree that CBT seems appropriate, then we will discuss specifics involved in a course of CBT treatment. If it's not appropriate, or you do not feel comfortable with it, we can discuss alternative treatments.
What Is Your Approach?
- I like to take a collaborative approach when working with you. I believe that I may know a thing or two about therapy, but you are the expert of your own experience so it’s important to work together to see exactly what has brought you here.
- I ensure to provide a safe space for you to discuss anything you may not be able to elsewhere.
- I am to provide an integrative and bespoke approach as I don't believe in a cookie cutter approach as we are individuals with our own experiences and struggles that need to be taken into account for a meaningful transformation.
What Are Your Hours?
I currently hold the following times:
10 AM- 4 PM
Tell Me Something Fun About Yourself!
- I am learning Korean as my 5th language- so you may find me with my nose in a language book outside of sessions!
